Allen "slap that bass" Regnier Acoustic Bass Allen Regnier is principal bassist for the Columbia Symphony of Portland and the Newport Symphony. He has performed with the Portland Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonia Concertante, Rose City Chamber Orchestra, Portland Youth Philharmonic, and various others. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in music from P. S. U. Allen currently performs, as well, with the offbeat Combo6 which has elicited swing and tango dancing in the community. Always drawn to dance music, from playing in original music rock bands to jazz to classical repertoire (Carmen’s’ Habanera, a slow milonga bassline) Allen’s now determined to interpret music from the other side of the dance floor. For several years my dream has been to be in a band that plays tango music. One day I mentioned that to the right person and voila!
